Getting Started

Quickstart

From a fresh install to a running agent in three steps. No terminal, no configuration files, no dependencies.

Step by step

1
Download and install
Download Transistor for your platform from the waitlist email. Open the installer and follow the prompts. Launch Transistor when the installation is complete.
2
Connect your AI
Transistor works with Claude, ChatGPT, or any OpenAI-compatible model. On the setup screen, choose your provider and enter your API key. Your key is stored locally and never leaves your device.
3
Start your first conversation
Type or speak to your agent. It will introduce itself and ask a few questions to begin building context about you. The more you use it, the better it gets at anticipating what you need.

What happens next

After your first conversation, your agent has already started building a memory profile. It will remember what you discussed, what you care about, and how you prefer to communicate. This context persists across sessions and syncs to all your devices automatically.

Tips for getting started

Tell it who you are
Introduce yourself and describe what you work on. The agent uses this to calibrate tone, detail level, and the kinds of suggestions it makes.
Try scheduling a task
Say something like "remind me to review the proposal every Monday morning." The agent will set up a recurring task and confirm the schedule with you.
Enable a skill
Open Settings and browse the Skills library. Enable Email or Calendar to give your agent access to your inbox and schedule.
